Bengali Fish Curry (Macher Jhol)

Traditional Bengali fish curry with vegetables, a staple in every Bengali household.

Ingredients

["500g Rohu fish","2 potatoes, cubed","1 onion, sliced","2 tomatoes, chopped","1 tbsp ginger paste","1 tbsp garlic paste","1 tsp turmeric powder","1 tsp cumin powder","1 tsp coriander powder","1 tsp red chili powder","Green chilies","Mustard oil","Salt to taste","Coriander leaves"]

Instructions

["Marinate fish with salt and turmeric for 15 minutes","Heat mustard oil and fry fish lightly, set aside","In same oil, add potatoes and fry until golden","Add onions and saut\u00e9 until translucent","Add ginger-garlic paste and all spices, cook for 2 minutes","Add tomatoes and cook until soft","Add water and bring to boil","Add fried fish and simmer for 10 minutes","Garnish with coriander leaves and green chilies","Serve hot with rice"]
